Frame Materials

Plastic

Also known as zyl is cost-effective and lightweight and a creative option. Popular colors and designs are available on the zyl material.

Monel

This metal is a mixture of a broad range of metals-it is the most widely used material in the manufacturing of eyewear.

Titanium

Lightweigt, corrosion- resistant, hypoallergenic, and durable. Titanium benefits those who are allergic to nickel and are sensitive to weight on their face, also active individuals who require strength in their eyewear. Whether the frames are made of pure titanium or titanium alloy.

Stainless steel

Lightweight, durable and a reasonably priced alternative to titanium. Many stainless steel fames are nickel-free and hypoallergenic, stainless steel frames are available in a variety of colors and are a viable option for consumers.

Lens Materials

Today you have many choices in lens materials.

Glass

Glass is the hardest material, offering the best protection against scratches. Glass lenses can shatter more easily than plastic, are twice as heavy and provide minimal UV protection.

High Index glass Is thinner than standard glass, but often weighs more.

Plastic

CR-39 has been the standard plastic lens material for eyewear. Plastic CR-39 lenses are half the weight of glass and have better UV protection, and are less prone to shattering also can be tinted more easily.

Polycarbonate was one of the first "thinner, lighter" lens materials. Polycarbonate lenses are 10 times more impact-resistant than glass or regular plastic lenses. The preferred choice for children and adults wanting lightweight, protective lenses.

High index plastic lenses are even thinner than polycarbonate. Its higher refractive index bends light more efficently than materials with a lower refractive index.

Trivex is the newest material Trivex is a relative newcomer that possesses the UV blocking properties and shatter resistance of polycarbonate while at the same time offering far superior optical quality. Trivex is a lab favorite for use in rimless frames, due to the ease with which it can be tinted and drilled.
