Dr. Schell

Dr. Schell received his bachelor’s degree in Physiology from the University of California, Berkeley in 1981 and his Doctor of Optometry degree from University of California, Berkeley in 1986. He served on active duty as Associate Chief of Optometry Services at Mather Hospital, Mather Air Force Base, California from 1986 to 1990. He started private practice in Cameron Park, California in 1990, while also continuing part time as a civilian optometrist at Mather Air Force Base. In the hospital setting, Dr. Schell worked with several ophthalmologists and treated a wide range of eye diseases. He also continued his Air Force career in the Air Force Reserves, serving as Chief of Optometry Services at Beale Air Force Base California, and attained the rank of Leiutenant Colonel prior to retiring in 2005.

Dr. Schell relocated to the Victor Valley in 1998, and initially worked for Dr. Mark Winston in the Victor Valley Mall, before leaving that office in 1998 to open this practice in 2000. He is dedicated to providing very high quality eye care, and has invested in the newest technology exam equipment, including computerized refractive instruments and the Optos laser scanning retinal camera.



Office Manager

Diana has worked with Dr. Schell since 1999. She received her Medical Office Management Certificate from United Health Careers College and her California Optician's license in 2008. In addition to her duties as Office Manager and Dispensing Optician, she works with numerous eyewear companies to ensure our frame selection includes a wide variety including classic styles and the most current designer fashions. Diana has a wealth of knowledge, having worked in ophthalmology and optometry practices since 1988, as well as taking frequent ongoing continuing education courses.


Cheri has been an optician since 2000 and has worked with Dr. Schell since 2006. Cheri's goal is to have you looking and seeing your best by ensuring that you receive superior optical technology and the most current frame design that suits your individual style. She takes the time to help patients understand their many vision correction options, and to guide them in selecting the options that best fit their own unique needs.

Patient Services

Lucy started her career in healthcare in 1980 after completing her certificate in Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy at United Health Careers. She worked as a Medical Assistant and in patient Serivces in a genreral medical practice and then as a Referral Coordinator at Inland Eye Institute in Colton. She has worked with Dr. Schell since 2003. Lucy schedules patient appointments, verifies insurance eligibility and benefits and creates digital copies of documents to store in electronic medical records. She is well known among our patients for "going the extra mile" to make sure they are taken care of.

Patient Services

Kathy started her career in eye care in 1985 as an Optometric Assistant for Douglas Myers, O.D. in Chico, CA. She has worked with Dr. Schell since 2002. Kathy schedules appointments, obtains insurance authorizations, records electronic medical record information, and adjusts and repairs patient's eyeglass frames.

Optometric Technician

Karla started her career in eyecare in 2001 at the Barter Eye Center ophthalmology practice in Apple Valley. She has worked with Dr. Schell since 2005. She records complete patient medical histories and all eye problems. She also conducts preliminary testing including blood pressure, autorefraction, tonometry and ocular photography prior to their examination with Dr.Schell. Patients regularly commend Karla for her kind, empathetic care. She also notifies patients when their eyeglasses or contact lenses are ready to pick up. She dispenses new eyewear, being careful to adjust the frames to make them as comfortable as possible.
